Evidence & sourcing

A listed capability is a starting point. Capacity is a separate question.

What a manufacturer’s public process list can tell you—and what still needs a conversation.

A process name on a manufacturer’s website is useful evidence for discovery. It tells a buyer where a sourcing conversation might begin. It does not establish that a machine is available, that a delivery window works, or that the supplier meets a particular order’s requirements.

Keep the claim close to its source

In CCN’s October 1, 2026 research snapshot, Mechanical Specialty’s own website described CNC machining and welding among its services. CCN records these as company statements. They are not an independent audit of the facility or an assurance of available production time.

NCMEP’s supply-chain program describes supplier matching and calls for due diligence. That distinction matters: discovery can identify a candidate, while qualification requires a separate review.

Three questions before an order

  1. Can the supplier perform the exact process, material, tolerances and inspection requirements?
  2. Can it support the quantity and delivery window now?
  3. What documentation or order-specific qualification does the buyer require?

These are editorial questions for a sourcing conversation, not findings about a named manufacturer. An unanswered question remains unknown; it is not a negative rating.
